Ministry is hard on marriage. When we coach someone and ask about their Relational aspect, we get to hear what affect ministry is having on with their marriage. Sometimes a good thing is happening. Sometimes it’s devastating. Coaching will provide breathing space for the coachee. If there are problems, he is probably not going to share that with his boss or a funding partner. You are ready to be the safe person.
Consider meeting with the husband and wife at one of your sessions. Watch for the interplay and affection between them. Prepare good questions. But don't be a jerk or assume there is unhealth.
If you have coached someone, ask for a brief reference that is short and positive about their experience. If you video it, we will put in on our website and you can point people to it!
Go outside your connected sphere — your denomination or network — and ask other pastors in the area or in other regions who they use for coaching their planters. There are many networks around. Ask if they have ministry leaders of other organizations in their churches that might need a coach.
