Doesn't take a degree to know that relationships are difficult and complex. Every single one of them, including the relationship you have with yourself. Someone noted, “Ever notice that when you live alone all your annoying habits seem to go away?” Conflict is inevitable in every relationship. One of the key reasons we coach with a default back to the Gospel is that the one being coached, no matter their role, is engaged at some level relationally and those relationships are a source of Gospel application. We coach to bring Gospel renewal to the relational aspect of the coachee.
We ask really good questions about where the coachee is in his marriage, parenting, and disciple-leadership. When we do, we give a usually driven leader — who is more focused on mission than anything else — the margin to think and give focus to intentionally move in healthy ways toward his spouse, kids, or leaders in his sphere of influence. You might even give him the path to connect relationally with lost people in need of the Gospel of grace.
Though we are not counselors, there are many ministry leaders, Planters, or even business leaders that can use your Gospel coaching ministry right now. Pray and ask the Spirit to lead you into a conversation with someone who needs your experience, skill, and availability to coach them to survive and thrive!
We want to help you in the ministry of Gospel coaching with the C.R.O.S.S. conversation so you can expand your influence and enlarge the gospel in the lives of others. Contact us to let us know how we can empower you to multiply.
One of my coachees was explaining the reason for his frustration with a staff guy. He had all the right reasons to be irritated. The staff guy was not the right fit and hindering ministry effectiveness.
When we coach someone, ultimately we are seeking God’s glory to be made great in all of life. Gospel CROSS Coaching brings God into the picture. He is the greatest good your coachee can have. Coaching should bring every issue back to the Gospel because every issue has some heart component related to it.
By the end of your coaching time, have you encouraged your coachee to the right place; to make decisions out of love for the staff guy, the church, and a deeper love of the Lord. etc.
Plan your coaching conversations ahead of time and always be praying for God to do his work. CROSS Coaching has prayer integrated throughout the conversation, not just at the end. Prayer is foundational to change cause it asks the Spirit for supernatural intervention. Only the Spirit of God can change the human heart. You cannot change yourself.
Ask God today for one new client to influence — for you to provide real, sustainable help. If you already have a client, pray for them — for them to be able to live for Jesus today in a new and profoundly deeper way than yesterday. Pray they experience hope for a long season.
