One of my core values is Influence. Each week I pray that value into my life. I try to make decisions on the use of my time, my teaching opportunities, and coaching clients based on influence. Where will I have opportunity to influence others with the good news of Jesus Christ’s love, life, and forgiving power? You multiply your influence of ministry experience and Gospel life into the lives of the church planter, his wife, kids, core team members, congregation, and city when you coach. You have influence in your current pastorate or ministry sphere, but where else can you leverage what you know about ministry? It's a great reason to coach.
Coaches should resist the temptation to tell their coachee what to do, how to do it, or even how they should feel. However, there is great value in sharing from your own weakness. That shows the valuable greatness of Christ and his Gospel-to show his power made complete through our weakness. He wants to show Himself strong in our weakness. Being vulnerable with your coachee(s) is one way we show hope to them.
After you decide how many men you can contract with per month (2 coaching contracts per month @ a total of 4-6 hours per month would generate not only a great deal of joy in your life and the life of the coachee, but also provide you with some extra income for vacations, or a car payment J), call 2-3 pastor friends or campus leaders and offer a couple free coaching sessions. Explain that you are CMM certified as a Gospel Coach and want to use what you’ve learned. Who knows, maybe they will hire you or maybe know someone else who might.
At CMM, we want to help you in the ministry of Gospel coaching with the CROSS Conversation so you can expand your influence and enlarge the Gospel in the lives of others. Contact Us anytime to let us know how we can empower you to multiply.
